Swansea Philharmonic Choir

Welcome to our web site.
The Swansea Philharmonic Choir is a mixed Choir with around 100 members and was founded in 1959 by Haydn James with the aim of raising the standard of choral singing in Wales and performing less familiar music as well as choral classics. The Choir's wide repertoire covers music from the Baroque to the present day.
The Choir is keen to include the works of British composers, namely Vaughan Williams, Britten and Elgar, and to ensure that the Welsh audiences have an opportunity to hear the works of Daniel Jones, Hoddinott, Mathias and Karl Jenkins. Performances are given regularly in the Brangwyn Hall and St Mary's Church Swansea.
As Swansea is twinned with Mannheim we have occasionally combined with the Manheim Bach Choir, memorably Britten's War Requiem in 1995. Further exchanges took place in 2000 & 2001, and plans are in hand for another visit in 2008.
The Choir is delighted to have Dennis O'Neill as its Honorary Patron.
The Choir acknowledges the support of the Welsh Amateur Music Federation which receives its funds from The Welsh Arts Council.
